Goodbye Finland!
Hey buddies,
Yap now its over. I can’t belief how fast the time went by. I had a great time here in Oulu the last 4 months. I saw a lot of new and awesome things. I met a lot of different and cool people from different countries and cultures and the farewell was pretty hard for me. We had a lot of fun together making parties in Otokylä going out and enjoying finish nightlife.
At the beginning we saw finland, in my opinion from its most beautiful side. While hiking through national parks close to russia or just driving by bike through Oulu we really enjoyed the landscape. All the trees were covered in amazing colors and the blue sky putted the krone on that.
We made new driving experience on the finish roads (Reindeer stopping!) and very huge distances like for example the trip to the Northcap - 950km!. Yes northcap - now i can say i was on the most northern point of europe ;-).
We saw a lot of new cities in new countries. Our Autumn-break Trip was awesome. 3 countries (Finland, Sweden, Estonia) in 1 Week. Sleeping in hostels, sleeping on ferries, a lot of sightseeing and of course a lot of party. Great trip with 22 real cool people.
The early snow, the coldness and the short daylight(at the end just 3h of sunlight) in the last 2 months was a little bit depressing but working for school, party and having fun was an appropriate replacement for that to survive the depressing time.
Our Cottagetrip to Kusamo was great. 14 people a big new cottage in the middle of a snow covered wood was one of our last trip actions here in finland.
The Trip to Rovaniemi and to the Santa Claus village was one of our last big activities as well. Sending a Postcart from Santa Claus’s Post Office and eating a Cheesburger “plaine” at the most northern McDonalds was a MUST up there.
Right now I am sitting with the other austrian students in the Train to Helsinki Airport. On one hand i really will miss finland and the guys up there on the other hand I really look forward for coming back home. I look forward to meet my parents, my friends and of course my dog. I look forward to eat good austrian food and drink cheaper beer than 4,50€. And i also look forward to come back home and continue my life with this kind of experience which i really won’t miss anymore
Studying abroad is great! If you have the possibility DO IT! Don’t think about it just DO IT, DO IT. I think it was the best time of my life.
